alternation with the oleate of copper. A host of other parasiticides have been recommended by different authorities. Among these remedies I can take time only to mention oil of turpentine, chrysarobin, sulphurous acid, salicylic acid, creolin, anthrarobin, and iodoform. The use of the continuous electric current gives very satisfactory results. The positive electrode is moistened with a i-per-cent. solution of corrosive sublimate or other germicidal liquid, and applied to the seat of disease. The negative pole is brought in contact with some more or less distant portion of the body. A valuable cataphoretic action is in this manner obtained. In very obstinate cases the parasite doubtless finds its way to the bottom of the follicles, and we are obliged to imitate Nature's method of treatment by the production of an artificial kerion. The best substance for this purpose is croton-oil. A small quantity should be painted very carefully upon the affected area, which should then be covered by a poultice or warmwater dressing. A good deal of swelling results and a scab forms. After the scab has fallen or been removed, the oleate of mercury or copper is used in the way already described. I have never seen ptyalism caused by the oleate of mercury. In schools, orphan asylums, and other places where a number of children are gathered together, ringworm sometimes prevails as an epidemic. When a case is found in such an institution, it is necessary to use great vigilance by isolation, as far as practicable, washing the heads of all the children with a weak alcoholic...
